Chris Vandiviere is Vice President of Universal Design Group. He earned his Bachelors degree from the University of Kentucky. The grandson of a master carpenter, Chris worked as a finish carpenter during his college years. Following graduation he served for 12 years with the U.S. Public Health Service. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia and began a career as a home builder in 1982 and has been in the construction business now for 27 years. In 1997 Chris accepted a position as Project Manager with Universal Design Group’s parent company, a Kentucky based commercial construction company founded in 1991, successfully completing projects for H.U.D., Social Security Administration, the Justice system, institutions, schools, long term care facilities, retail stores, restaurants, shopping centers and office buildings.
Universal Design Group is the result of his vision and the product of several years of planning, being formed to provide professional design and construction services for our aging population as well as for those with disabilities. Our goal is to help others remain in their homes comfortably and safely. Chris is a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS), a certification program focusing on the unique needs of the older adult population, developed by the National Association of Home Builders, the Seniors Housing Council and the A.A.R.P. In addition, he has attended numerous continuing education courses in the construction industry. Chris is a member of the Association of General Contractors, the Kentucky Guardianship Association and the Kentucky Association of Gerontology.
